- Burial ceremonies
7 oz of cremains sent to space aboard Celestis 3 Taurus rocket, to orbit earth for 57 years. Greg is the first Oklahoman buried in space. (Vandenberg AFB, California, USA)
Burial at sea by Richard Simpson, Greg's bone marrow donor, aboard the U.S.S. Pearl Harbor, with full military honors. (Pacific Ocean 25 miles West of San Diego)
Cremains sent up in model rocket, nosecone opened, ashes scattered in sky. Launched from Eisenhower Elementary School, where Greg loved to launch rockets. (Tulsa, Oklahoma)
Half of remaining cremains buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, beside Papa (Wm. E. "Gene" Brooks).(Tulsa Oklahoma)
Tulsa Air and Space Museum opened an exhibit to honor Greg as the first Oklahoman buried in space. A permanent display was built, with artifacts, news clippings, photos, and a video of the launch.
