The Indian blood (Native American) is in my son, as his father was a full blood Indian. Mostly Shoshone but partly Washoe. Both were western plains nations (they consider themselves nations). Don (my son's) father grew up on the Shoshone reservation in Reno, which was at the time on the outskirts of town. He attended Indian boarding school, then went into the military in the Korean war and served over there. After the war, he attended college in Los Angeles area and went to work in the aerospace industry, which is where we met in 1967. Our son, Don was born in 1969. I took and have kept the name Ridley, even though I married Jim Herzberg in 2001, since I had been a Ridley for most of my life and certainly all of my professional life and I was still working. I had thought to change my name to Herzberg after I retired, but Jim has no interest in my changing my name. So - although born Manganis, I will live my life as Ridley. At 53 years old, when we married, it is hard to change who you are.
My mother, Georgia Maria Alden, descends from the Swedish line, her mother, as I believe you know, was Maria Sogren??. My mother's father was Frank Alden, who was a direct descendent of the John Alden and Priscilla Alden who came to America on the Mayflower and settled in Plymouth, Massachusetts.
Don Ridley is from American-Shoshone tribe- have grown up on the Indian reservation in Reno, Nevada (Suzanne Marie Ridley)
