The church records noted that she went to Sweden. Hopefully her father had given her a cow at least when she left home. She never married. She had her own little houseat Kattilasaari just otside Haparanda, Sweden. She seems to have made a living by sewing for other people. In the old days a seamstress might come and stay with a family untill all of them had been outfitted. She must have have a very frugal person as after her death there was property to be devided among her siblings. The record prepared by the church to assist in the division of her estate is a source of valuable information on the members of the family.
She had five full sisters, five half-sisters and six half-brothers but many were deceased by the time of her death. A portion of her estate was allotted to her half-brother Erik Emil in the United States. The money was put in a bank in Finland. There was a devaluation of the currency, however, so by the time the money was given by the heirs, the children of Erik Emil, to their mother or step-mother it was enough to just buy her a new heating stove for the living room. | Konstenius, Maria Erika (I1360)

The following notes is an extract from the book ''Giorgi Family of Gordevio, Ticino, Switzerland by Valerie Dyer Giorgi:
Gordevio in Switzerland, which is where the Giorgi family came from, is a small town of less than 500 population. It is located in Valle Maggia. There are very high mountains surrounding Gordevio that are all granite. The favorite flower of the people living in Gordevio is the geranium. Geranium are planted in the ground, in pots and any place they might grow. The buildings are very old and made from granite.
Swiss farmers who emigrated eventually became the backbone of the local dairy bussiness in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara countis. They supplied milk and milk products to San Fransisco and the Sacramento Valley.
In America Natale and Valerie worked in San Jose, Calidornia, moving south to Harmony, Sam Luis Obispo County and then leased land near Los Alamos, California. Natale Giorgi, Sr settledon Rancho Nojoqui in 1896 and Valerio settled in Cayucos. They both accumulated enough money through their hard work to buy daires. | Giorgi, Natale (I2780)

The Karunki, Finland church records had no record of her except her birth as she went to the United States at a young age. She met Andrew Mantyla in the States and he promised to take care of her so they were married. He had a lumbering camp t one time in Saxon, Wisconsin. Most of their lives, however, were spent on a farm in Erwin Township, just outside Ironwood, Michigan. They sold milk to a dairy and potatoes to people in the locations who did not have garden space to grow them. They also did plowing for those who wanted to have their own gardens. Both of them were bothered with asthma during their lifetimes.
Their home was a good example of Finnish construction. The walls were of logs which were covered inside and out with planed lumber. There was a large entry porch with benches under the windows for seating as well as storage. They used kerosone lamps and lanterns but eventually got in lights and were able to have a washing machine. They had their own well and a sauna. They had one or two hired men especially before the boys were grown. There was an organ in the front room and church services were often held at the home. Before they got lights their Christmas tree was decorated with small candles in metal holders that were kind of woven into the branches.
Two tall cabinets in the large kitchen often held shallow bowls of filia. The kitchen floor was varnished each year late some night so it would be dry by morning. | Konstenius, Sofia Johanna (I1357)

The land that he bought from his father was named Lahdelma as it was on a cove. It was the southern strip of the Konstenius estate when it was divided from the island east to the mainland. It seems that he obtained building material for his home from a three storied storage building on the island. He had his brother Erik Emil send him watch from the United States. He died of an absessed tooth very suddenly when the children were all very young. Nilo for one spent a lot of time with his grandparents on the island so much that since his retirement he has been able to paint from memory the old kitchen and his grandfather Nilo using his cane to cross the room. | Konstenius, Jonne (I1345)

The Scio Tribune November 26, 1942
Mrs. Minerva Hull, 90 last August, was buried a few days ago by the side of her husband at Miller cemetery near Scio. Mrs. Hull, who with her family, lived on a farm in the Shelburn community several years ago, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bess Clark in Salem.
Extract from a letter written by Bessie Hull Clark for her mother, Minerva (Nodine) Hull, July 10, 1935.
"After leaving Council Bluffs in April, one night in early June, the train had reached the end of a day's trek and were forced to pitch camp for the night on the banks of the Platte River when they discovered there were 500 Sioux Indians camped about a mile up the river. A number of the Indians came and whooped and circled around their camp, taking note of their powers of resistance and prying into the possessions of the immigrants to see if it would pay them (the Indians) to pull a massacre when darkness of night covered all. Of course, you can only image the feelings of those men in the train and the helplessness of those women and children and their fright at seeing such a murderous horde spying around planning their destruction and what must have been their thoughts momentarily as the night hours passed expecting to be killed. They could hear the yells and the ki yi's of the Reds in the distance and knew they greatly outnumbered the train. Minerva was a little fourteen year old girl and no one slept in the camp that night. The train men armed and held themselves in readiness for any attack. But the reason the Reds were so hostile was because the Whites were camped on their reservation. However, Uncle Sam's soldiers were in Fort (Kearney) across the river from the immigrants and the Indians. At daybreak, a messenger came scurrying into camp and told the train to move on as quickly as possible, as the U.S.S. were not going to be able to hold the Sioux in check much longer. They had been war dancing and working themselves into a frenzy all night and were ready to swarm for attack at any minute. So the train lost no time in ambling forth and were accompanied and guarded by a small squad of soldiers the entire day, thus enabling the Whites to get far off the reservation and out of the path of the "Injuns". Thus ended just one of the many terrors of the pioneers of the plains."

Tito was a cattle rancher all his life at Nojoqui. In addition to cattle he grew garbanzo and lima beans, barely and tomatoes on dry land. The tomatoes were red, pear shaped that were sent to the cannery. There was never enough water to irrigate all the farm land. The famous Nojoqui Falls was located on a part of his ranch.
Tito and Alma would buy about fifty to one hundred chicks at a time through the Sears catalog. They would raise them and when the rooster were big enough they were killed for the dinner table and the hens were kept to lay the eggs for the family. | Giorgi, Titus Tito Achille (I2774)
